Orange covers 500 miles in 24 h away from the Portuguese coast
A "transbiscay" to set the boat up, a succession of gybes to clear Cape Finistere, then steer 180°, due south and the whole coast of Portugal is unfolding on fast forward to Orange’s windward. After one and a half day’s racing, the thirteen oilies of Peyron’s men are already drying in the Iberian sunshine. -

We were warned that this Saturday March 2nd would be classified "Orange" for the half-term traffic, both outward bound and inward bound? and also on the Atlantic with the toing and froing of the two "Giants": back to port for the unfortunate Geronimo and a fresh start this morning at 08 hours 36 minutes and 21 seconds (French time) for Bruno (…) -

Peyron starts again on Saturday morning

Orange back on the starting line on Saturday
The maxi-catamaran Orange’s capshrouds and shrouds, which they were still waiting on wednesday to be returned from the USA, have arrived and have cleared customs. Philippe Peche and Vladimir Dzalba Lyndis dispatched to Paris to collect them are now on the way back to Vannes with their precious load! -

Bruno Peyron is seriously envisaging a fresh start with his maxi-catamaran
Two weeks after a breakage of the masthead prematurely interrupted Orange’s adventure in the Jules Verne Trophy, Bruno Peyron, his crew and the technicians from the Multiplast yard have pulled off the improbable gamble of reconstructing and assembling some 4 metres of mast in record time. -

With 200 miles still to go to the equator (at 13:00 GMT today), sailing conditions are hardly in Geronimo’s favour. The ten or so knots of wind available mean that the Cap Gemini Ernst & Young - Schneider Electric team trimaran is making very slow headway towards the Southern Hemisphere. -

Sailing legend Tracy Edwards is to take on the world again. The pioneer of all female sailing projects has acquired the record breaking 110 foot maxi-catamaran Club Med, renamed it Maiden II, re-formed her crew of expert women sailors, and is about to embark on a challenging three year programme which includes participation in both the Jules (…)
