For the first time in the ASP World tour, a rookie has won the championship. Stephanie Gilmore, 19 yo, wins the 2007 ranking ahead of Peruvian Sofia Mulanovich and Silvana Lima from Brazil.

Sailing a 20’ sport cat from Canaria to Guadeloupe in 14 days

Italian sailor Matteo Micelli has accomplished a great record by crossing the Atlantic alone, on a 20’ sport cat, in only 14 days, 17 hours and 52 seconds. He is the SeaSailSurfer of January 2007.
Aboard his 20’ prototype catamaran Micelli has been twice faster than the previous record ! Arrived on January 13 in Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe), he has realized a time that will be hard to break.

On said kitesurfing is not sailing. Other said the Luderitz Speed Challenge’ spot is not deep enough. But the channel in Namibia is a fixed place with 500 meters marks and is more than 80 cm deep. When kitesurfers and windsurfers sail there, there are truly in the spirit of the original Weymouth and Brest Speed Weekds. Their records are not (…) -

August 2010 was rich in events and performances. Many SeaSailSurfers made great performances. We will however retain Bertrand Delesne’s run in the second leg of race to the Azores. On his mini, he covered 304,90 miles in 24 hours. He is SeaSailSurfer of the month !

Côte d’Or 2’ skipper has been lifted this morning (french hour). Race director Jean Maurel took the decision to ask Bernard Quentin to activate his distress beacon due to his bad healthy condition. -

Le skipper du foiler Côte d’Or 2 (classe Ultime) a été hélitreuillé. Epuisé, le skipper de l’ancien bateau d’Eric Tabarly n’était plus en mesure de manoeuvrer. C’est donc la direction de course de la Route du Rhum qui lui a demandé de déclencher sa balise de détresse afin que les secours soient mis en place. -

Certains diront que le kite, ce n’est pas de la voile. Que le spot du Luderitz Speed Challenge en Namibie n’est pas assez profond. Attention : ce couloir est fixe, mesure 500 mètres et est profond de plus de 80 cm. Les kites et les planches qui s’y lancent le font dans l’esprit du record originel comme on le faisait à Weymouth ou à Brest . Il (…)
