For the first time in the ASP World tour, a rookie has won the championship. Stephanie Gilmore, 19 yo, wins the 2007 ranking ahead of Peruvian Sofia Mulanovich and Silvana Lima from Brazil.
SeaSailSurfer of october : Yves Le Blévec
Winner of the prototype division of the Transat 650 : In Funchal, Le Blévec had been beaten by Isabelle Joschke and Sam Manuard. He said he slowed down to sail safely. He did well. Isa and Sam broke in leg 2 and Yves won it. As he won the race in the prototype division. He is the seasailsurfer of the month.
All as not been easy for Le Blévec even if he signed early in 2006 with his sponsor from 2001 (when he entered in the Mini for the first time). In July 2006, Groupe Actual, his Lombard designed 6.50 was launched. But too late to enter in the solo race to the Azores. In december he was then far away in the wayting list for the Mini-Transat. But he continued to compete and accumulated wins and podium places. In september he was in La Rochelle when the Classe Mini and the organisation opend the starting line to 5 more skippers (from 84 to 89 !). and you now know the end…

Jeremy Flores has won the Billabong Pipe Master, the last event of the 2010 ASP World Tour. Defaiting Kelly Slater in the semis, is the first European surfer to win this great event, the first french to win an event in the ASP circuit. He is the SeaSailSurfer of December.

On said kitesurfing is not sailing. Other said the Luderitz Speed Challenge’ spot is not deep enough. But the channel in Namibia is a fixed place with 500 meters marks and is more than 80 cm deep. Russell Coutts, the boss of the american Defender, BMW Oracle Racing, has made younger the older sport trophy of the world. As the competition will be sailed aboard wingsailed catamarans, he made the trophy, and sport sailing competition, entering the third millenary. He is the SeaSailSurfer of the month.

August 2010 was rich in events and performances. Many SeaSailSurfers made great performances. We will however retain Bertrand Delesne’s run in the second leg of race to the Azores. On his mini, he covered 304,90 miles in 24 hours. He is SeaSailSurfer of the month !

Completing the legendary 628 nautical mile Rolex Sydney Hobart race course in 3 days, 7 hours, 4 minutes and 43 seconds, Wild Rose arrived in Hobart on Monday evening, finishing with a corrected time that proved insurmountable for the yachts drifting through an abating breeze to Hobart.

Le maxi monocoque de Bob Oatley, Wild Oats XI, s’est une nouvelle fois imposé à Hobart au terme des 628 milles du parcours mythique depuis Sydney. Bob Oatley’s Wild Oats XI has done it again, and in claiming Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race line honours for an eighth time at 15.03.26 hours today, in the time of two days two hours three minutes and 26 seconds, goes down in the race’s 70 year history as the only yacht to ever achieve this amazing feat.

Le 31 décembre prochain à Barcelone, Sébastien Audigane prendra le départ de la Barcelona World Race, aux côtés de l’Allemand Jörg Riechers. Une nouvelle expérience qui lui permettra d’étoffer un CV nautique déjà bien rempli et qui pourrait lui ouvrir les portes du Vendée Globe 2016, pour lequel il est en recherche active de partenaires.

Le banc de sable de St Brandon situé à 450 km au nord de l’île Maurice a été libéré de l’épave du Volvo Ocean 65 danois qui s’y était échoué lors de la 2e étape du tour du monde à la voile. Après quelques jours de préparation, le bateau a été démâté puis évacué avant d’être transféré à bord d’un porte-containers de la société Maersk.
