Rookie and surfing world champ

For the first time in the ASP World tour, a rookie has won the championship. Stephanie Gilmore, 19 yo, wins the 2007 ranking ahead of Peruvian Sofia Mulanovich and Silvana Lima from Brazil.

Winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup with Emirates Team NZL : Called to the rescue of the Kiwi challenger in 2003, the New Zealander, 50 years last July 1st, managed to fill its first contract. While winning the Louis Vuitton Cup, the loosing Defender of the 31th edition of the Cup signed its come-back against Alinghi for the match of the 32e America’s Cup… A spirit of revenge in the air. Mission accomplished ?
To replace Peter Blake then Russel Coutts, it was necessary for Kiwis to find somebody who would not fear of the comparison with his great predecessors. Winner in his past offshore career of the Whitbread 1981-82, and of The Race in 2001 (between others), Dalton came to carry his offshore experiment to the very specific field of the match-racing for this 32nd America’s Cup. And the least that one can say is that he reached that (firts) goal. Dalton is the man of June 2007.

Jeremy Flores has won the Billabong Pipe Master, the last event of the 2010 ASP World Tour. Defaiting Kelly Slater in the semis, is the first European surfer to win this great event, the first french to win an event in the ASP circuit. He is the SeaSailSurfer of December. -

Don’t you have a feeling of dejà-vu ? Thomas Ruyant, hands up, with his fetish hat, arriving as a winner in a solo race ? Transat 650 2009 ? Yes. One yer after his win in the Mini-Transat, he has won the Route du Rhum. He is the SeaSailSurfer of the month. -

On said kitesurfing is not sailing. Other said the Luderitz Speed Challenge’ spot is not deep enough. But the channel in Namibia is a fixed place with 500 meters marks and is more than 80 cm deep. When kitesurfers and windsurfers sail there, there are truly in the spirit of the original Weymouth and Brest Speed Weekds. Their records are not (…) -

Russell Coutts, the boss of the american Defender, BMW Oracle Racing, has made younger the older sport trophy of the world. As the competition will be sailed aboard wingsailed catamarans, he made the trophy, and sport sailing competition, entering the third millenary. He is the SeaSailSurfer of the month. -

SeaSailSurfer of August 2010 : Bertrand Delesne
August 2010 was rich in events and performances. Many SeaSailSurfers made great performances. We will however retain Bertrand Delesne’s run in the second leg of race to the Azores. On his mini, he covered 304,90 miles in 24 hours. He is SeaSailSurfer of the month !

After the Ecume de Mer (1978), the First 30 (1979 to 1981), the Rush Royale (1982 and 1983), the Sélection 37 (1984 to 1991), the JOD 35 (1992 to 1998), the Farr 30 (1999 to 2010) and the M34 (2011 to 2014), from next summerm 2105, the Diam 24 will be the new boat of the Tour de France à la Voile. -

Toutes les courses de ce dernier jour de championnat mondial ont été annulées faute de vent. Les membres de l’organisation sont toutefois très satisfaits : entre 9 et 10 manches pour chaque catégorie ont été validées et la météo a permis de se confronter dans des conditions très variées. -

Outteridge wins in style the 2014 International Moth World Championships at Hayling Island Sailing Club
The forecast for the final day was for no wind, but it turned out to be a sparkling day with the best breeze of the week. Four races were held in glorious Summer racing conditions, with 10-14 knot winds, leading to very tactical racing. -

Sondage : Quel bateau pour le Tour de France à la voile 2015 ?
Le Tour de France à la voile 2014 n’a réuni que 9 équipes. Les Grand-Surprise devaient intégrer la course comme annoncé lors du salon nautique 2013 mais aucune équipe n’a pris cette option. L’organisateur du Tour, A.S.O. (du Groupe Amaury - L’Equipe - qui organise aussi le Tour cycliste), cherche donc une autre solution au M34 dont l’échec est (…)
