For the first time in the ASP World tour, a rookie has won the championship. Stephanie Gilmore, 19 yo, wins the 2007 ranking ahead of Peruvian Sofia Mulanovich and Silvana Lima from Brazil.
SeaSailSurfer of April 2007 : Bernard Stamm
Swiss skipper double winner of the round the world race : Bernard Stamm has entered in the legendary history of offshore racing. He has won two solo round the word races with stop-overs as did before him Philippe Jeantot and Christophe Auguin. Stamm is then the SeaSailSurfer of April 2007.
But it is not the end of his programm as Bernard Stamm nevers stops. It was his last competition aboard the famous Pierre Rolland design Open 60. Now he is getting the helm of Jean-Pierre Dick’s first Farr designed Open 60. With this new boat, he will enter in november in the Barcelona World Race, a two-handed round the world race… And one year later, he will make his come-back in the Vendée Globe. Yes, three round the world races in a row ! That’s Bernard Stamm.

Russell Coutts, the boss of the american Defender, BMW Oracle Racing, has made younger the older sport trophy of the world. As the competition will be sailed aboard wingsailed catamarans, he made the trophy, and sport sailing competition, entering the third millenary. He is the SeaSailSurfer of the month.

August 2010 was rich in events and performances. Many SeaSailSurfers made great performances. We will however retain Bertrand Delesne’s run in the second leg of race to the Azores. On his mini, he covered 304,90 miles in 24 hours. He is SeaSailSurfer of the month !

The Round the Island Race saw a high winds of 30 knots push professionals and amatures in this record breaking event. 1900 boats took part but some didn’t make it home, with broken masts and capsized boats it made an eventful day.

Parti à 6h10 (heure anglaise) il affiche 39 minutes de trop au chrono pour battre le record détenu par Francis Joyon et son Trimaran 60 pieds Eure et Loire depuis 2001.
