Winner of the Barcelona World Race with Damian Foxall : Paprec Virbac’ skipper has won the two-handed round the world race with co-skipper Damian Foxall. Does this make Dick one of the top ranked skipper to succeed to Desjoyeaux and Riou in the Vendée Globe ?
In 2005, Dick finished 6th in the Vendée Globe, the non-stop solo round the world yacht race. If he never competed for the win he showed everybody a new approach to concieve an Open 60 monohull. He was the first to ask Farr Yacht Design and has been followed in that way by many skippers. Including himself as he asked the Kiwi designer to design him again the new Paprec Virbac.
After half a round the world race to set sail the new boat to France, and a full one in the BWR, he appears now as one of the top guns for the next Vendée Globe. During this competition (a Vendée Globe prologue) he said he learnt a lot from Damian Foxall, especially to react quickly after technical problems. That will help him a lot next winter, alone.
For the february month, Jean-Pierre Dick is the SeaSailSurfer of the month. With special mentioin to Foxall and to Servane Escoffier who did finished her round the world race without any stop.

On said kitesurfing is not sailing. Other said the Luderitz Speed Challenge’ spot is not deep enough. But the channel in Namibia is a fixed place with 500 meters marks and is more than 80 cm deep.
