Tanguy de Lamotte belongs to those who believed in Class40 from the beginning. He is rewarded for his efforts since he won, with Adrien Hardy, the first edition of the Solidaire du Chocolat.

The winner of leg 1 and second overall of Transat 650 : September was rich in events. PYM and Benoit achieved their crossing from New York to Lorient, the 60 feet fleet joined Brest from Istanbul, Class 40 covered 1000 miles, Multi 50 launched three new boats… as for the man the month, he illustrated himself on Charente Maritime Bahia Transat 650.
His double victory of both legs in Les Sables - the Azores in 2008 had impressed everybody. But “the protos were not ready” they said… The “level was not high”… However, Francisco Lobato nerly did the same in the leg 1 of the Transat 650 as he finished second and dominated the race leading the leg at the helm of his Pogo2, a one-designed mini.
This time, there are still excuses : “the skippers of proto slowed down not to break”, “they awaited the 2nd stage to accelerate”, “the sea was strong and prevented the protos from going quicker than the series”, etc. If most were true indeed, everyone admits that the Portuguese was the best skipper from La Rochelle to Madeira.
Francisco Lobato is the man of September 2009. He was also SeaSailSurfer of the year 2008. Going for a double win ?

689 votes made the SeaSailsurfers of 2010. The male winner is Thomas Ruyant, winner of the Route du Rhum in Class40. He did it one year after his win in the solo Transat 650. Jeremy Flores has won the Billabong Pipe Master, the last event of the 2010 ASP World Tour. Defaiting Kelly Slater in the semis, is the first European surfer to win this great event, the first french to win an event in the ASP circuit. He is the SeaSailSurfer of December. -

SeaSailSurfer of October 2010 : Alex Caizergues
On said kitesurfing is not sailing. Other said the Luderitz Speed Challenge’ spot is not deep enough. But the channel in Namibia is a fixed place with 500 meters marks and is more than 80 cm deep. When kitesurfers and windsurfers sail there, there are truly in the spirit of the original Weymouth and Brest Speed Weekds. Their records are not (…) -

Russell Coutts, the boss of the american Defender, BMW Oracle Racing, has made younger the older sport trophy of the world. As the competition will be sailed aboard wingsailed catamarans, he made the trophy, and sport sailing competition, entering the third millenary. He is the SeaSailSurfer of the month. -

SeaSailSurfer of August 2010 : Bertrand Delesne
August 2010 was rich in events and performances. Many SeaSailSurfers made great performances. We will however retain Bertrand Delesne’s run in the second leg of race to the Azores. On his mini, he covered 304,90 miles in 24 hours. He is SeaSailSurfer of the month !

Deux étapes et la Mini pour Yannick
Yannick a volé la vedette à Brian, à seulement quelques milles de l’arrivée qu’il coupe en vainqueur avec 27 minutes d’avance sur son homologue Anglais. Qui l’eut cru ? Pas Yannick en tout cas. « J’étais persuadé que Brian était déjà arrivé », lance le skipper, « je suis sur le cul ! ». -

Encore douze heures de route
C’est le sprint final pour les bateaux de tête. Une centaine de milles séparent le leader Brian Thompson (Lighthouse Life Foundation) de la ligne d’arrivée, qu’il devrait couper en vainqueur d’étape selon toute vraisemblance, vers 5 heures (heure française) demain matin. -

Yves Le Blévec en tête au Cap Vert
Les premiers protos viennent de passer le Cap Vert. C’est Yves le Blévec (Actual Intérim) qui ouvre la marche. -

Classement final de la Mini-Transat 1999
Sébastien Magnen réalise le doublé. La première étape est mouvementée avec le passage d’une forte tempête dans le golfe de Gascogne. Neuf skippers sont hélitreuillés. De nombreux marins font escale en Espagne. A noter lors de cette dernière Mini-Transat vers les Antilles, la création d’une division série remportée par le constructeur du Pogo. (…) -

Gros coup de tabac sur la première étape. Celle-ci est annulée. Il est demandé aux skippers de rentrer au port. Thierry Dubois parvient quand même à la terminer et remporte ensuite la deuxième étape. -
