Tanguy de Lamotte belongs to those who believed in Class40 from the beginning. He is rewarded for his efforts since he won, with Adrien Hardy, the first edition of the Solidaire du Chocolat.
SeaSailSurfer of June 2009 : Torben Grael, Winner of the Volvo Ocean Race
A new price for Torben Grael ! Past olymic star is now an offshore racing king with is « easy » win in the Volvo Ocean Race.
The race was very long (it did start before the Vendée Globe), there was not a lot of competitors (8 teams including two two-boats campaigns), and not a lot of suspense…
The Team Ericsson did choose the ABN Amro winning system in the previous edition of the round the world race : Juan Kouyoumdjian designs, two boats built and racing. Both sailing under the sponsor coulours…
And, at the head of the main team, the Brazilian star Torben Grael, 5 times olympic medallist, 49 y.o. on July 22nd. And the « Sailing Senna » did well, beating a Puma Team which was quite never at the top and a Telefonica two-boat / big budget campaign from which we will mostly remember the crash at the start from Marstrand…
Then the mission is done and well done for Grael. He is the SeaSailSurfer of the month.

On said kitesurfing is not sailing. Other said the Luderitz Speed Challenge’ spot is not deep enough. But the channel in Namibia is a fixed place with 500 meters marks and is more than 80 cm deep. When kitesurfers and windsurfers sail there, there are truly in the spirit of the original Weymouth and Brest Speed Weekds. Their records are not (…) -

Russell Coutts, the boss of the american Defender, BMW Oracle Racing, has made younger the older sport trophy of the world. As the competition will be sailed aboard wingsailed catamarans, he made the trophy, and sport sailing competition, entering the third millenary. He is the SeaSailSurfer of the month. -

SeaSailSurfer of August 2010 : Bertrand Delesne
August 2010 was rich in events and performances. Many SeaSailSurfers made great performances. We will however retain Bertrand Delesne’s run in the second leg of race to the Azores. On his mini, he covered 304,90 miles in 24 hours. He is SeaSailSurfer of the month !

Le maxi trimaran IDEC navigue ce mercredi après-midi quasi à la verticale de la pointe sud-ouest de la Nouvelle-Zélande. Francis Joyon devrait franchir dès ce soir la barre des 10 800 milles courus sur la route directe, soit la moitié du parcours. Joyon boucle l’Indien (le vrai) en 9 jours 1/2
A 9h06 heure française ce matin, le maxi trimaran IDEC a coupé la verticale de South East Cape, en Tasmanie. Francis Joyon a ainsi atomisé le record de la traversée de l’Océan Indien en solitaire en 9 jours, 12 heures et 3 minutes. C’est trois jours et près de 7h de moins que le précédent chrono que détenait Ellen MacArthur. Hallucinant. -

La direction de course de la Barcelona World Race a été informée lundi à 18h00 GMT (19h00 heure française), du démâtage de Veolia Environnement skippé par le duo français Roland Jourdain et Jean Luc Nélias. Thomas Coville a franchi la ligne officlelle du record du tour du monde en solitaire ce soir à 19 heures 43 minutes et 21 secondes. Le maxi Sodeb’O est parti sous deux ris/ORC poussé par un vent d’Est/Nord Est de presque 30 noeuds qui devrait forcir dans la nuit. -

Held in fairly light wind, today’s first fleet race saw Patrick de Barros’ first victory on board Team ES Bankers Dubai, ahead of Team Omega and Team Aqua. De Barros started the race at the pin end of the line, at full speed, and dominated the entire regatta : the left side of the course was clearly the place to be. -

Come-back réussi pour Loïck Peyron
Gitana Eighty est arrivé à Port la Forêt ce vendredi à 00h 13’ 25’’ soit après quatorze jours neuf heures treize minutes vingt-cinq secondes de course. Loïck Peyron remporte ainsi sa première transat en solitaire sur son nouveau monocoque dessiné par le cabinet Farr et construit en Nouvelle Zélande par Southern Ocean Marine.
