On Tuesday, the french kitesurfer Alexandre Caizergues has beaten the absolute speed sailing record with 54,10 knots (100,19 km/h) over the 500 metters of the Luderitz channel in Namibia. By the way he improves l’Hydroptère previous record of 51,36 knots.
The action took place during the Luderitz speed Challenge in Namibia. Alex Caizergues who work all the year for this record was sailing his 8 m2 wing.
With this fabulous run, he gets back a record he broke in 2008 with 50,57 knots.
Alexandre Caizergues : « It’s great. I feel like I have done something incredible. I knew I was able to get back the absolute record but to be able to be so fast… We had great conditions in the fantastic spot in Namibia. But I still have power under my feet. I am sure we can go faster in the next weeks.
