Extreme Sailing Series™ organisers OC Sport, alongside Land Rover, one of two Series Main Partners, have today confirmed details of their most ambitious Series to date at the London Boat Show. The award-winning and ‘ISAF Special Event’ world tour will celebrate its eighth year on the international sailing calendar with eight iconic Host Venues spanning three continents, over eleven months and nine elite level teams representing seven nations, who will compete to win the coveted Extreme Sailing Series trophy.
A circuit spanning Asia, the Middle East and Europe
For the first time, Singapore will host the curtain raiser to the 2014 Series, with the first starting gun on 20th February. In Singapore the fleet will race within the confines of the ultimate city-centre stadium on the world-famous Marina Bay. From Asia, to the Middle East and the capital of the Sultanate of Oman for Act 2 19-22 March, before the fleet return to China’s ‘Olympic Sailing City’ Qingdao, China’s premier racing destination in May.
A brand new venue for 2014 is Saint Petersburg, Russia. A city with an extraordinary history and Russia’s cultural capital, it is considered to be one of the world’s most picturesque cities. It has all the ingredients for an unforgettable Act, 26-29 June.
The annual UK leg will take the fleet of high-performance catamarans to the heart of the Welsh capital in Cardiff – one of the smallest stadiums on the world tour over the UK August bank holiday weekend, 22-25 August.
From 11 September, the waters separating Asia and Europe will host Act 6 as the fleet return to the magnificent city of Istanbul, Turkey – a favourite amongst the teams with tide and wind, set against a city backdrop instantly recognised the world over, before the penultimate Act of the year at a Host Venue to be confirmed in the Mediterranean in early October.
The final Act of 2014 will be held in one of the most iconic cities in the world as the fleet head to the Southern Hemisphere for the first time, the Harbour City in Sydney Australia in December – a city with one of the world’s most famous waterfronts.
Notably absent for 2014 and not in the Extreme Sailing Series calendar is Brazil, but the tour will return in 2015, following on from the successful final 2013 Act in Florianopolis.
In a stunning weekend comeback, the France SailGP Team claimed their first event win of the 2025 Season – bouncing back from near-disaster in practice to beat the BONDS Flying Roos and Emirates GBR in an action-packed winner-takes-all Final.
Julien Firmenich’s Ylliam 17 claimed victory this weekend at the opening event of the 2025 TF35 season in Nyon, marking their first-ever regatta win since joining the fleet in 2023. Sailing alongside Firmenich were tactician Guillaume Rol and crew members Ed Powys, Stewart Dodson, Matthieu Ravussin, and Nelson Mettraux.
The 2024 TF35 season came to a quiet close at the Société Nautique de Genève, as calm conditions on Lake Geneva persisted for a second consecutive day, preventing any further racing.
Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti retained their Olympic title in the Mixed Multihull with a dazzling display in Marseille. With only two races sailed due to light winds on the final day of the TF35 Malcesine Cup 1, Realteam Sailing, skippered by Jérôme Clerc, who have clinched the victory at every event of the 2023 season, claim the annual TF35 Trophy with one event remaining.
Four days of racing at the GC32 Lagos Cup came to a conclusion today on Portugal’s Algarve coast with a run-away victory for the Nicolai Sehested-skippered Team Rockwool Racing. Deuxième journée de course autour de l’île de Porquerolles pour les 23 concurrents de la Generali Méditerranée. Au programme du jour, le traditionnel déjeuner Bénéteau sur l’île de Port-Cros et une course de 20 milles pour rallier leur port de départ en passant par le sud de l’île.
Départ tambour battant pour cette 4e étape de l’EUROCORSICA RACE. Le vent soufflait à la force 3/4 avec des rafales au départ de Porto-Vecchio. L’Usam Voile de Brest organise du 10 au 13 juillet 2002, le National 505, en partenariat avec la Ville de Brest et la Classe 505 France, avec le soutien du Conseil général du Finistère.
C’est en Belgique que se disputera la 3e épreuve de la saison du Championnat 9 TELECOM, du 11 au 14 juillet. Le Port de Zeebrugge accueillera cette année une flotte de 10 trimarans dont deux neufs : Géant (Michel Desjoyeaux) et Gitana X (Lionel Lemonchois), mis à l’eau à la fin du mois de juin.
Pour leur première journée de course à Porquerolles, les 23 concurrents engagés dans la 13e Generali Méditerranée ont disputé deux courses dans les eaux de l’île varoise. Eric Drouglazet, heureux papa d’un petit garçon depuis deux jours, l’avait promis : « pour Hugo, je vais gagner les deux manches du jour ! ».
Dans le chantier naval FR Nautisme de François Robert, Eric Corazza construit un plan Rolland de 43 pieds. Il s’agit d’un sister-ship de Zébulon, le bateau de course de Jean-Luc Sévenou.
Le vent était au rendez-vous de cette troisième étape, les concurrents aiguisés par les résultats des manches précédentes ont obligé le comité de course à faire 2 rappels généraux pour le départ.
A moins d’un mois de l’arrivée des premiers bateaux, la pression monte sur les quais du port de la Cité du Ponant. Du 13 au 16 juillet, 52 voiliers envahiront les quais de la Penfeld et du port de Commerce pour prendre le départ de la Course Cutty Sark des Grands Voiliers.
