Following a positive forecast for today, Tuesday, judges had high hopes of finally kicking off The Irish Wave Grand Prix, which is presented by Bord Fáilte. It had been expected that if winds reached a predicted force 4 in a south/ southwesterly direction, the final leg of the Wave World Tour would go ahead today. However, it just wasn’t to be.

Rain was the alarm call this morning but by the time skippers meeting was underway for the wave sailors at 10 a.m. the skies had cleared. Another different picture greeted the sailors on Wednesday morning at the 8.30 skippers meeting. The swell has increased but last nights strong winds have backed off just too much to put the wave sailors on the water. Some of the keener competitors did however manage a little dawn patrol action to stretch the muscles and clear the head.
