Transat Jacques Vabre
Team SOLLAC Atlantique - Joé Seeten & Éric Drouglazet (mono)
PORTRAIT OF THE DAY
vendredi 2 novembre 2001 – Christophe Guigueno
Joé Seeten took part in the last Vendée Globe at the helm of past Jean-Luc Van Den Heede’s red cigare. this year he has bought a three years old Open 60 : Active Wear which did entered in Around Alone and the Vendée Globe (4th) whith Marc Thiercelin.
For the Vendée Globe, Marc thiercelin did changed the keel for a swinging one but never found the way to trim it. As the boat is not one of the fastest yacht upwind, Joé still has work to do to improve his new machine. “I was interrested with two boats. This one and Catherine Chabaud’s one. But with this one, I knew there was some work to do to make her faster. With Sollac Atlantic, I have a programm for the next three years...”
For the two-handed Transat Jacques Vabre, Joé has chosen Eric Drouglazet as co-skipper. It will be the first race on an Open 60 for the winner of the 2001 Solitaire du Figaro. Eric is a specialist of one-design offshore racing at the helm of a 9 meters long Figaro Bénéteau. His experience and his winning spirit will be very usefull to Joé to make them one of the favorite tandem for the victory in Salvador de Bahia. “I know Eric from 15 years. We sailed together for a long time and he is always on the machine to make her faster.”
