For the first time in the ASP World tour, a rookie has won the championship. Stephanie Gilmore, 19 yo, wins the 2007 ranking ahead of Peruvian Sofia Mulanovich and Silvana Lima from Brazil.

Sailing a 20’ sport cat from Canaria to Guadeloupe in 14 days

Italian sailor Matteo Micelli has accomplished a great record by crossing the Atlantic alone, on a 20’ sport cat, in only 14 days, 17 hours and 52 seconds. He is the SeaSailSurfer of January 2007.
Aboard his 20’ prototype catamaran Micelli has been twice faster than the previous record ! Arrived on January 13 in Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe), he has realized a time that will be hard to break.

On said kitesurfing is not sailing. Other said the Luderitz Speed Challenge’ spot is not deep enough. But the channel in Namibia is a fixed place with 500 meters marks and is more than 80 cm deep. August 2010 was rich in events and performances. Many SeaSailSurfers made great performances. We will however retain Bertrand Delesne’s run in the second leg of race to the Azores. On his mini, he covered 304,90 miles in 24 hours. He is SeaSailSurfer of the month !

Racing on the Pão de Açucar race track, a south easterly breeze in between 5-10 knots allowed all the fleets to conclude their racing. The breeze died towards the latter part of the afternoon as the Women’s 470 wrapped up proceedings. -

Partie à 13h de Douarnenez vendredi, la flotte du Tour du Finistère a avalé en quelques heures les 90 milles nautiques de la dernière étape. Le vent a finalement tenu jusqu’à 5h du matin, permettant à la majorité de la flotte d’arriver à Port la Forêt dans la nuit. Le dernier bateau a coupé la ligne ce matin un peu après 9h. -

Vainqueurs de ce Test Event, l’équipage de Nacra 17 ne compte pas s’arrêter là, ils pensent désormais au doublé mondial à Santander. -

A south westerly breeze from 15-20 knots spoilt the Finn and Nacra 17 sailors on the Pão de Açucar course as two excellent Medal Races played out. The breeze faded towards the afternoon with the 49er getting three single point theatre style Medal Races in and the 49erFX sailing two. -
