Rookie and surfing world champ

For the first time in the ASP World tour, a rookie has won the championship. Stephanie Gilmore, 19 yo, wins the 2007 ranking ahead of Peruvian Sofia Mulanovich and Silvana Lima from Brazil.
SeaSailSurfer of June 2007 : Grant Dalton
Winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup with Emirates Team NZL : Called to the rescue of the Kiwi challenger in 2003, the New Zealander, 50 years last July 1st, managed to fill its first contract. While winning the Louis Vuitton Cup, the loosing Defender of the 31th edition of the Cup signed its come-back against Alinghi for the match of the 32e America’s Cup… A spirit of revenge in the air. Mission accomplished ?
To replace Peter Blake then Russel Coutts, it was necessary for Kiwis to find somebody who would not fear of the comparison with his great predecessors. Winner in his past offshore career of the Whitbread 1981-82, and of The Race in 2001 (between others), Dalton came to carry his offshore experiment to the very specific field of the match-racing for this 32nd America’s Cup. And the least that one can say is that he reached that (firts) goal. Dalton is the man of June 2007.

Jeremy Flores has won the Billabong Pipe Master, the last event of the 2010 ASP World Tour. Defaiting Kelly Slater in the semis, is the first European surfer to win this great event, the first french to win an event in the ASP circuit. He is the SeaSailSurfer of December. -

On said kitesurfing is not sailing. Other said the Luderitz Speed Challenge’ spot is not deep enough. But the channel in Namibia is a fixed place with 500 meters marks and is more than 80 cm deep. When kitesurfers and windsurfers sail there, there are truly in the spirit of the original Weymouth and Brest Speed Weekds. Their records are not (…) -

Russell Coutts, the boss of the american Defender, BMW Oracle Racing, has made younger the older sport trophy of the world. As the competition will be sailed aboard wingsailed catamarans, he made the trophy, and sport sailing competition, entering the third millenary. He is the SeaSailSurfer of the month. -

SeaSailSurfer of August 2010 : Bertrand Delesne
August 2010 was rich in events and performances. Many SeaSailSurfers made great performances. We will however retain Bertrand Delesne’s run in the second leg of race to the Azores. On his mini, he covered 304,90 miles in 24 hours. He is SeaSailSurfer of the month !

Dick & Peyron win the second edition
Breaking the finish line this Monday morning at 10hrs 20mins 36 seconds (UTC) Jean-Pierre Dick (45) and Loïck Peyron (51) have won the second edition of the Barcelona World Race on Virbac-Paprec 3, completing the 25,200 miles round the world race in 93 days, 22 hours, 20 minutes and 36 seconds at an average speed of 11.18 knots. -

Le SeaSailSurfer du mois est un retraité du sport. Il y a presque 20 ans, il remportait la médaille d’or en planche à voile au Jeux Olympiques de Barcelone [1]. Ce mois-ci, Franck était loin des séances de pumping en Espagne puisqu’il a mis à l’eau à Lorient le premier MOD70, le fruit de longues années de travail avec l’ORMA puis avec ses (…) -

Le multicoque de course au large revient à la MOD !
Depuis la disparition de l’ORMA - la classe des trimarans prototypes de 60 pieds (18 mètres) - le multicoque était plutôt destiné au records en équipage avec Groupama 3 ou Banque Populaire V, ou en solo avec Idec et Sodebo. La nouvelle classe des MOD70 signe leur retour sur un programme de courses au large, mais en monotypie.
