From last to 1st in the Vendée Globe

On December 3rd, Michel Desjoyeaux wasback in the top 10 of the Vendée Globe, 3 weeks after his second start from Les Sables d’Olonne. At the end of the month, he is the leader. Mich’Desj is the SeaSailSurfer of December.
SeaSailSurfer of november 2008 : Sam Davies
Brit skipper of Roxy in the Vendée Globe : Who could be the SeaSailSurfer of november ? Torben Grael who won two legs in the Volvo Ocean Race. Or Loick Peyon and Seb Josse, the two front runners of the Vendée Globe. Or Sam Davies, one of their only two female competitors in the single handed round the world race ?
Offshore racing need numerous skills including boat timming, navigations, tactics, seamanship. But one necessary talent is good habilities in communication. And during the first weeks of the Vendée Globe, Sam Davis showed great abalities to take photos of her trip aournd the word. She has been able to make images of her 60’ monohull, Roxy, which won the two previous editions with Michel Desjoyeaux and Vincent Riou at her helm. She also been able to photograph herself even during bad and good days. Her photo only dressed with a bikini has already made the round the world. And the 3 Brit is now going to do the same by herself. She is the SeaSailSurfer of the month.

689 votes made the SeaSailsurfers of 2010. The male winner is Thomas Ruyant, winner of the Route du Rhum in Class40. He did it one year after his win in the solo Transat 650. On said kitesurfing is not sailing. Other said the Luderitz Speed Challenge’ spot is not deep enough. But the channel in Namibia is a fixed place with 500 meters marks and is more than 80 cm deep. When kitesurfers and windsurfers sail there, there are truly in the spirit of the original Weymouth and Brest Speed Weekds. Their records are not (…) -

Russell Coutts, the boss of the american Defender, BMW Oracle Racing, has made younger the older sport trophy of the world. As the competition will be sailed aboard wingsailed catamarans, he made the trophy, and sport sailing competition, entering the third millenary. He is the SeaSailSurfer of the month. -

SeaSailSurfer of August 2010 : Bertrand Delesne
August 2010 was rich in events and performances. Many SeaSailSurfers made great performances. We will however retain Bertrand Delesne’s run in the second leg of race to the Azores. On his mini, he covered 304,90 miles in 24 hours. He is SeaSailSurfer of the month !

Sébastien Rogues 1er des séries
Après 50 heures de course en mer d’Iroise, le Trophée MAP des séries s’est joué lors des derniers milles en baie de Douarnenez. Sébastien Rogues (Eole Génération GDF Suez) a passé Thibault Reinhart (Delasia) alors que le vent, quasiment absent pendant deux jours, s’est levé à près de 25 nœuds pour les propulser vers la ligne d’arrivée. -

Irish lead for irish start of leg 8
Hometown boat, Green Dragon, made a fantastic start today as the Volvo Ocean Race fleet left Galway Bay on the 1250 nm sprint leg to Marstrand in Sweden. It was a great reward for the huge crowds of well-wishers, who filled every available space in Galway in order to cheer their home team on. -

Il l’avait annoncé avant le départ de ce 6e Trophée MAP, Stéphane Le Diraison, le skipper du prototype rouge « Cultisol », s’est imposé ce midi à Douarnenez après près de 48 heures de course en solitaire en mer d’Iroise. -

Le Diraison leader aux Birvideaux
La situation météo est orageuse sur le golfe de Gascogne. Le ciel est couvert et le vent faible. Après le passage des Birvideaux, à 11h45 pour le premier, Stéphane Le Diraison sur « Cultisol », il s’est inversé à 180°. Malgré quelques instants pendant lesquels le skipper du prototype rouge a pu envoyer le spinnaker et glisser à plus de 15 (…) -

Laurent Bourguès monte l’Adrenaline à Douarnenez
C’est parti pour le 6e Trophée Marie-Agnès Péron (Trophée MAP), le 4e organisé par le Winches Club de Douarnenez. Soixante-treize solitaires se sont élancés pour un parcours de 220 milles en mer d’Iroise. À la bouée de dégagement, le premier pointé était Laurent Bourguès, le skipper du prototype « Adrénaline ». -

SeaSailSurf TV MAG #9 : Spécial Chrono 650
Encore une fois, la Chrono 650 organisée par les filles de Rond de Chute à Lorient a été un succès. Vingt bateaux, trente skippers ont régaté autour de l’île de Groix pour établir le meilleur temps possible au cumul de 4 chrono. En prototype, c’est Thomas Normand qui s’impose. Féquet & Erussard remportent le Raid Bleu Normandie
Le hasard fait parfois bien les choses. En déplorant la perte de son équipier habituel Paul-André Meury, Victorien Erussard voyait ses affaires mal embarquées pour sa première participation au Raid Bleu Normandie. On l’a vu lors de la Chrono 650 à Lorient, une nouvelle génération de skippers de course au large acquiert de plus en plus d’expérience. Records explosés sur la Transmanche
Les yeux rougis par le sel, le soleil et la fatigue, les premiers skippers ont mis le pied sur les pontons de l’Aber Wrac’h dans la matinée. Les grands monocoques, les Class40 ont passé la ligne d’arrivée tandis que 16 Figaro Bénéteau II viennent de franchir la ligne. Les autres groupes sont attendus dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche.
