From last to 1st in the Vendée Globe

On December 3rd, Michel Desjoyeaux wasback in the top 10 of the Vendée Globe, 3 weeks after his second start from Les Sables d’Olonne. At the end of the month, he is the leader. Mich’Desj is the SeaSailSurfer of December.
SeaSailSurfer of october : Sébastien Cattelan
First man to sail faster thant 50 knots over 500 meters. The SeaSailSurfer of the month made his record early in october. The french kitesurfer was competing with other kitesurfers and windsurfers in Namibia during the Luderitz Speed Challenge. And he was the first to break the 50 knots barrels !
Few days before, Cattelan showed that his GPS registered more than 58 knots over few metters. That was a clear message than kitesurfers were ready to win the putch over windsurfers and foilers. On october 3rd, that was done with 50.26 knots rattified for Cattelan. Few days after, Caizergues made better with 50.57. And that’s the news record to break.

On said kitesurfing is not sailing. Other said the Luderitz Speed Challenge’ spot is not deep enough. But the channel in Namibia is a fixed place with 500 meters marks and is more than 80 cm deep. When kitesurfers and windsurfers sail there, there are truly in the spirit of the original Weymouth and Brest Speed Weekds. Their records are not (…) -

Russell Coutts, the boss of the american Defender, BMW Oracle Racing, has made younger the older sport trophy of the world. As the competition will be sailed aboard wingsailed catamarans, he made the trophy, and sport sailing competition, entering the third millenary. He is the SeaSailSurfer of the month. -

SeaSailSurfer of August 2010 : Bertrand Delesne
August 2010 was rich in events and performances. Many SeaSailSurfers made great performances. We will however retain Bertrand Delesne’s run in the second leg of race to the Azores. On his mini, he covered 304,90 miles in 24 hours. He is SeaSailSurfer of the month !

Images du Spi 2009 à La Trinité sur Mer
Voici une douzaine d’images prises samedi 12 avril lors de la deuxième journée du Spi Ouest France - Bouygues Telecom à La Trinité Sur Mer. Les régatiers (405 bateaux engagés) ont bénéficié de belles conditions avec du vent et du soleil pendant 3 des 4 jours de compétition. Rosebud/Team DYT sets new record
In a fitting re-birth of the venerable Fort Lauderdale to Charleston Race, Roger Sturgeon’s STP65 Rosebud/Team DYT (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) crossed the finish line just before 10 p.m. on April 10, to break the 35-year-old race record set in 1974 by Ralph Ryder’s C&C 66 Phantom and set a new standard for the modern running of this event. -
