Orange in the anteroom of the trades...
Another ridge crossed. One more. Certainly not the last on the way to Ushant. Orange is beating slowly through a sea still choppy from the fury of the low. Peyron is all smiles. He managed to miss the storm by a few miles. Now they must find a way out of the calms of the high. And it’s going to be to the tune of multiple sail changes, a case of (…) -

Maiden II daily report : Days are long…
Another day in the Atlantic has given us hope and desperation but we are still just on the edge of this downwind record attempt sitting only 28 miles behind Club Med. We are negotiating clouds squalls and rain to try and pick our way through a mine field of light airs of 9 knots and trade winds of 15 with the odd puff of 18. Dusk and Dawn (…) -

Orange looks for the escalator to the equator
It can’t stay in place. It’s stretching from east to west, compressing a little in the centre, trying to escape to the south and is today barring the Atlantic over a width of almost 4,800 nautical miles... What is it ? It’s the 1020 hPa high-pressure system in which the maxi-cat Orange currently finds herself. While the soft belly of the high (…) -
