Breaker of the 300 nm in 24 hours barrier with a mini 650

August 2010 was rich in events and performances. Many SeaSailSurfers made great performances. We will however retain Bertrand Delesne’s run in the second leg of race to the Azores. On his mini, he covered 304,90 miles in 24 hours. He is SeaSailSurfer of the month !
With nearly 305 miles in 24 hours, Delesne and its Manuard designed "Prati Bûches" improved by 10 miles the previous record held by Andraz Mihélin with another Manuard design.
“Since the last Transat 6,50, I thought well that the bar of the three hundred miles in twenty-four hours could be exceeded. It is the kind of performance which I affectionate… ” said the new recordman while arriving in Les Sables d’Olonne largely in front of its competitors.

On said kitesurfing is not sailing. Other said the Luderitz Speed Challenge’ spot is not deep enough. But the channel in Namibia is a fixed place with 500 meters marks and is more than 80 cm deep. Russell Coutts, the boss of the american Defender, BMW Oracle Racing, has made younger the older sport trophy of the world. As the competition will be sailed aboard wingsailed catamarans, he made the trophy, and sport sailing competition, entering the third millenary. He is the SeaSailSurfer of the month. -

SeaSailSurfer of July 2010 : Alessandro di Benedetto
The Franco-Italian geologist of 39 years old Alessandro di Benedetto accomplished this July a solo round the world tour, without making stopover, on the race course of the Vendée Globe. He made it in 268 days on board a mini 650 and he is the SeaSailSurfer of July 2010.

illbruck has won leg four of the Volvo Ocean Race into Rio de Janeiro, finishing at 05:58:42 GMT. The wind had died and left the fleet to claw their way to the finish line in a frustrating stop start fashion. ETAs were pushed further back as the wind shut off. -

C’est ce matin, à 6h 58 - heure française, dans de tous petits airs, une chaleur moite et sur des airs de samba, que illbruck, a franchi la ligne d’arrivée de la 4e manche de la Volvo Ocean Race 2001-2002, après un sans faute de 23 jours, 5 heures, 58 minutes et 42 seconds de course dans une des manches les plus difficile du parcours. -

Poussé par une bonne brise de nord d’environ 25 nœuds, Geronimo a avalé à vive allure le golfe de Gascogne au cours de ses premières heures de mer. 13 heures après avoir coupé la ligne de départ devant l’île de Ouessant, le grand trimaran gris avait déjà parcouru 299 milles à la moyenne de 23,2 nœuds.
