Tour de France à la Voile
Panther Team GBR wins the cruising race up the Loire
mercredi 10 juillet 2002 –
The 40 Mumm 30’s left the docks this morning to start a 28-mile non scoring points race up the Loire from St-Nazaire to Nantes.
A race that gave a chance for the shore crews to have a sail.
Rob Greenhalgh’s Panther Team GBR crossed the finish line in first. It is their second victory after the prologue. Unfortunately, the Brits did not score any points today as it was just a fun race.
Région Ile de France’s Jimmy Pahun is still the overall leader ahead of Nantes-St-Nazaire, skippered by Pierre Loïc Berthet and Ville de Genève Carrefour Prévention skippered by Etienne David.
Hervé Gautier’s CCS Essec is still leading the amateur division and Force EDC, skippered by Australia’s Simon Sutherland is leading the student division.
Today, the crews are having a rest in Nantes and will leave again tomorrow. The boats will be delivered down the Loire to St-Nazaire. The coefficient 2 offshore race to La Rochelle will start at 17:00.
